Yeah, um...

Is the point here that you hate GameStop, you hate pre-ordering, or you're a bigot?

Because all the evidence (i.e.: this flash) points to choice three. Not cool, not funny, not worth my time.

patrick-3005 responds:

People take things WAY too seriously on here!!! I mean c'mon, I'm a bigot? Everything was meant to be a joke. I was trying to do the stereotypical version of a gay guy, a crazy guy and a black guy. STEREOTYPES PEOPLE!!! That's the whole joke. Me and my wife thought it was funny and we had a great time putting it together. I really thought it was good and so did she, but I guess it's OUR humor, not yours. Give me some credit, I mean isn't it annoying when you go in to buy a game and you just wanna be in-n-out and then they go into the whole thing about reserving? I do and that's why I made it.

Something else to consider:

Click-next-to-advance-the-text dialogue breaks the flow of an animation. The other tips you've been given take precedence over this (definitely add a background, platforms, sound effects, etc) but finding a better way to handle dialogue should be on your list.

Also, consider modding the sprites to add extra animation loops. Mario doesn't have a whole lot of animations for a fight scene - basically just the jump.

Omhatoen responds:

What?

If I just have the text go by like every few seconds no one will be able to read it, cause it goes too fast (there are slow readers, you know). If I have it too long, like for 20 seconds, it gives people time to read, but also reduces animation time. Same thing happens with a Next-to-frame button, except for ONE thing: You can go to the next frame WHENEVER YOUR DONE READING THE TEXT.

But yeah, I'll take that into consideration. Thanks for the review anyways

I knew it...

I knew those dimensions sounded familiar...

Now the true question: With the code you're using, can you add some kind of simple shading to make it seem more like a truly 3d object? Even if the answer's no, you've still got some nice work here.

CaptinChu responds:

Shading and lighting..... I'll look into that. I haven't given it much thought. Also, I'm glad to know there's an Arthur C. Clarke fan in Newgrounds!

Um....

The trick to showcasing an API is to show what it's capable of.

This seemed mostly to be capable of annoying me. Mixing the code you're using here with some kind of game-like interface would take longer, but it would make it clearer what, exactly, you're showing off.

(What ARE you showcasing here?)

KemCab responds:

how easy it is to pass a flash on newgrounds

Still awesome

My all time favorite ATD video - despite liking Clones better as a song.

However, one thing has been bugging me for months: What the heck is written on the floor at the beginning of the second verse? Only thing I've been able to make out is LOL.

Wonchop responds:

I forget most of it myself. But it's partly Youtube Poop jokes and about one Lock Legion injoke.

Woot and stuff!

That was so nicely animated, and you mixed Pachelbel's Canon smoothly with the electric guitar version of it, to boot!

No wonder you got pick of the day.

Foreverland responds:

Woot! Thanks!

Wow...

No injuries, minimal property damage...

Is Blockhead feeling all right?

I mean, I fully expected a repeat of the "get out of the television" incident at one of those houses.

Your animation has improved immensely. I see you're experimenting, too. It especially shows in the window-climbing transition. Very nicely done, there.

At this point, you don't really need more positive reviews, but you're getting it anyway, so there!

The-Swain responds:

I don't really animate violence (Time Tank kinda demanded it though...), but I DO animate destruction. As much of it as I possibly can, courtesy of Blockhead. But not in this episode.

NEXT TIME around, Blockhead will make personal property pay! Mark my words.

Not bad!

Really, if you're as new to Flash as you say, this is not a bad entry. Yes, it was short. However, worse than its shortness was the fact that it just... stopped.

"Doo de doo de doo and-here-comes-Naruto-THEEND!"

Still, shows promise. If you want to hook people and make them want to watch part two, then leaving things hanging can be an effective method, if the buildup is done right... Just think about it, and keep pluggin'!

Teenplayer84 responds:

Sorry about that. I try to make naruto hit the sandbag, but everytime i try to put a graphi i call "Sandbag1" is keep placing,"sandbag standing up" so thats why i couldnt put naruto...i was too disapointed when I make it longer

Meh

Sad to say, but there really wasn't anything special about this. The extra sound effects weren't necessary, but a little extra animation would have helped greatly... If the weasels had, I don't know.... moved. Or had any distinguishing characteristics. Or looked a little more like weasels.

demoninabottle responds:

lol okay thanks for the review

HOLY CRAP!

Y'know... I hate rotoscoping. I mean, really, with a passion, hate rotoscoping. And yet... you made it good. Somehow, and this is not sarcasm, this animation (and its predecessor) have redeemed rotoscoping in my eyes.

A very creative use of everyday actions. Did you do the sound composition yourself as well? If so, MANY MANY KUDOS!

Dustball responds:

Thanks! Yes, I recorded all of the sounds and then arranged them into the music.

Yes, I am working on flash stuff. Yes, it is a pain to do so. :) Hopefully, you'll be able to see something soon, though.
